My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27 (NIV)
The picture here is of the Palestine shepherd calling his sheep and going ahead of them to lead the way. Jesus is our shepherd leading the way, but we need to listen to his voice to find that way. The second part of the verse gives us a wonderful assurance of out salvation. God has a firm grip on us, and He’s not about to let us go. He holds us securely in the palm of His hand.
